META UPDATES
👤 Username Rollout
Meta continues to expand the rollout of WhatsApp Usernames, allowing users to interact without sharing their phone numbers.
As the rollout progresses across additional markets mainly in Colombia, Peru etc. businesses should be aware that conversations may increasingly originate through usernames rather than visible phone numbers. We recommend staying informed as Meta shares further guidance on feature availability and adoption.
💰 Quarterly Pricing Updates
Meta’s latest quarterly pricing updates are now in effect since July 2026.
Partners are encouraged to review the latest pricing applicable to their regions and use cases to understand any impact on messaging costs.

🚀 Embedded Signup (Onboarding) Updates
Meta has introduced updates to the Embedded Signup (Onboarding) experience.
Embedded Signup is being updated with a new Phone Number First flow. In this flow, business customers enter and verify their phone number at the start of signup, before they create or select business assets. This surfaces phone number eligibility and verification issues earlier. While these updates improve the onboarding experience, they do not require any action from existing partners and are not expected to impact current integrations.
Although, partners should familiarize themselves and their customers with the updated flow when onboarding new businesses.

🔒 Wallet Security Enhancements
We’ve introduced several improvements to strengthen platform security and help protect against misuse of wallet payments.

👤 Username / Business-Scoped User ID (BSUID)
To simplify adoption of Username/BSUID capabilities, a partner-level configuration is now available.
Partners can enable Username support across their applications through configuration, eliminating the need to configure each application individually. Read docs
This makes it easier to onboard multiple applications with Username support as the feature continues to roll out.
📚 Documentation Improvements
We’ve refreshed several areas of our developer documentation to make integration easier.
Updates include:
- Removal of deprecated API versions.
- Updated Subscription API documentation.
- Refreshed public Postman collections.
We encourage partners to refer to the latest documentation here before starting new integrations.
🖼️ Recommended Best Practice: Use Media ID Instead of Media URL
We’ve observed intermittent disruptions when sending media using Media URLs.
To improve message delivery reliability, we strongly recommend using Media IDs instead.
Media IDs provide a more stable and reliable approach for sending media messages and are the recommended integration method going forward.
If you are still using Media URLs in production, we encourage you to plan your migration to Media IDs.
⏱️ Media Retention Clarification
There has been some confusion around media retention timelines for incoming media.
While the retention duration has been restored to 7 days by Meta, we recommend that partners retrieve and process incoming media as soon as possible, ideally within the first hour after receiving the webhook, instead of relying on the maximum retention period.
Designing integrations to consume media immediately helps avoid failures caused by future platform changes or temporary retention policy updates.
Policy Update
Action Required: Accept the Partner Terms of Use
Partners (Admins) who have not yet accepted the latest Terms of Use may begin experiencing disruptions in features such as app creation, app linking or access to Partner Portal, starting 1st Sep 2026.
If you haven’t already accepted the updated Terms of Use, we strongly encourage you to do so at the earliest to ensure uninterrupted access to platform features.
